Welcome to the Spring Term!

Welcome  to the Spring Term in Nursery. I hope you have had a happy and fun filled Christmas.
We are looking forward to welcoming new children into afternoon Nursery after February half term. I am sure they will have of fun. Please give the school a ring on 872431 if you have, or know anyone with a child who is going to turn 3 before August 31st to put their name on our waiting list.
We are looking forward to a healthy term with lots of fun and learning. Hopefully the weather will be kind to us and we will be able to spend a lot of time outdoors.
We will be continuing with our 'Sound of the Week' most weeks with a few special weeks added in. The notice board outside the classroom will tell you what week it is.

If you have any queries or concerns, please email Mrs. McDonnell at
mcdonnelle2@hwbcymru.net or wait at the bottom of the steps once all the children have been dismissed from Nursery for a chat.

Our Nursery Week

SOUND OF THE WEEK
Our special sound of the week is introduced today. Please could you help your child by reinforcing the sound of the week at home. The sound of the week is displayed on this website, together with some activities we will be doing. Maybe play I spy games and look for things beginning with our special sound. Each sound we learn has its own song which can be found on the You Tube link below. (PLEASE SUPERVISE YOUR CHILD WHEN USING YOU TUBE)

LIBRARY
Please return library books to Nursery on a Monday so that we have time to share the book with the children before they choose and bring another one home on a Thursday.

Tuesday

ACTIVITY DAY
We have a very busy activity day today where we explore all the areas inside and outside of our classroom. Most will have new activities and challenges relating to our special sound of the week.

Wednesday

WELLY WEDNESDAY
We love forest school and go out whatever the weather so please can you ensure the children wear suitable clothing and bring wellies  to change into. Please  don't allow them to wear wellies to come to school as they can be uncomfortable when sitting down and will be muddy after being in the woodland. Trousers for girls are also more comfortable when in the woodland.

Thursday

GYM
The children do not need to wear a kit on gym day, just easy clothes to move around in (joggers, leggings etc and preferably not skirts, dresses or jeans)  Velcro shoes are much easier to manage when the children are dressing and undressing. It would also be very helpful if all school jumpers  are labelled. Please encourage your child to try to put on their own socks and shoes.

                                           LIBRARY
Your child will choose a library book to bring home and enjoy with you. A bedtime                                                story is a lovely way to end the day.

 RHYME OF THE WEEK
Today the children will learn a new rhyme. They often bring the rhyme home so that you can encourage them to learn and sing it at home.
See our Rhymes page for a sing-a-long

Friday

COOKING
We often cook something relating to our Sound of the Week on a Friday. Not everyone cooks every week, but everyone has something to bring home.

Please let us know if your child is allergic to any foods.

Everyday

Picture
Every day the children will have the opportunity to enjoy milk and a selection of  fruit and vegetables during snack time. The children absolutely love snack time so please would you be kind enough  to contribute towards this activity. Thank you. (A contribution of £1.00 per week will cover the cost of fruit and veg, cooking and snacks relevant to our weekly letter sound e.g. crumpets for 'c' week.  This is collected half termly, or termly if you prefer, in an envelope with your child's name on.

Water is available throughout the morning and we all sit down together for a drink during the morning. Children do not need to bring drinks with them.
